Newcastle United return to Premier League action as they host Brentford at St James’ Park - here's how manager Eddie Howe could line up for the clash.
By Liam Rafferty
The Magpies head into the fixture with a growing injury list, with winger Anthony Gordon the latest addition.
Joelinton, Emil Krafth and Tino Livramento are also unavailable for Saturday’s match, giving Howe plenty to think about.
There was some cautious optimism in Howe’s pre-match press conference, as the Newcastle boss revealed captain Bruno Guimarães is 'getting closer', while Lewis Miley is still awaiting a late fitness update.
After suffering defeat at home to title-chasing Aston Villa, Howe will be keen to see a response from his side on home soil.
With that in mind, here’s how Newcastle United could line up:

Goalkeeper-Nick Pope
Aaron Ramsdale started Wednesday’s Carabao Cup tie against Manchester City, but Pope is expected to return between the posts for the league fixture.
Right-back - Kieran Trippier

He struggled against Manchester City, but with limited options available, Trippier is likely to retain his place.
If Lewis Miley is deemed fit to start, he could be an alternative.
Centre-back - Malick Thiaw
With Newcastle desperate for a result, Thiaw is unlikely to be dropped - especially given Brentford’s strong recent form.
Centre-back - Sven Botman
Dan Burn has logged heavy minutes in recent weeks, so Botman could come back into the starting XI here.
Left-back - Lewis Hall
Another solid showing midweek before being withdrawn.
His substitution looked precautionary, with this fixture in mind.
DM - Sandro Tonali
Undroppable at present, with no obvious alternatives pushing him out of the side.
Central Midfield - Jacob Ramsey
This role could go to Bruno Guimarães if he’s cleared to play, but until there’s confirmation, Ramsey gets the nod.

Central Midfield - Joe Willock
Like Ramsey, his place could be under threat if Guimarães returns, but for now he stays in the XI.
Left Wing - Harvey Barnes
Benched against Manchester City, Barnes is expected to return to the starting lineup due to Gordon’s injury.
Right Wing - Jacob Murphy
Got minutes off the bench midweek and is likely to start further up in this one.
Striker - Yoane Wissa
A close call between Wissa and Nick Waltemade, but given the opposition, Wissa could get the nod against his former club.
